Joey King and Netflix have come together to make a new Rom-Com that will be available on the streaming service from August 16th, titled A Family Affair.
The movie follows Lea Brodie, a high-school student who is the daughter of two Hollywood stars – Doyle and Melissa Brodie. Lea finds herself in trouble with her grades, until she meets Mr Brooks – her new English teacher.
They find themselves in an unlikely romance and must balance their burgeoning relationship with the long-lasting bonds they share. True to Rom-com fashion, this story is one of love, heartbreak and friendship.
A few months ago we reported on this project when Netflix announced that it was creating its first Rom-Com as part of their effort to diversify programming: “Netflix Debuts First Romantic Comedy Series”.

The original title of this movie was “Unconditional Love.” But Netflix changed the title after reading the script.
The original title was acquired because it sounded more romantic and fun. But Netflix changed it to the name we know today.
Once they read the script, they thought of a few other titles that would better explain what this movie is about. They thought about “movie” as well. Their reason was because this is a movie about a movie that deals with love and life. That’s why they chose that title for their movie, as well, .
The changes were made without consulting Joey King or everyone else involved in ‘A Family Affair’.
Expectation As Fans
Joey King will be seen in “movie” as Emily, while Zac Efron will be seen as Jake.
After the initial announcement of this movie, fans were excited and eager to see the cast of this movie. They are all very good in their own right.
